The Legacy of Active Apprentice
Active Apprentice is the only organisation of its kind in the Sports and Physical Activity Sector and holds the only licence to deliver its service in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) and the Department for Education.
Active Apprentice is not the new kid on the block, far from it! Our legacy springs from the summer of 2012 and the London Olympic games where we were commissioned by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) as part of the Olympic Games Legacy Partnership to deliver sustainable apprenticeship employment into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP).
Working in the park with the park operators to deliver training opportunities, Active Apprentice was able to support employment for roles in the prestigious Olympic venues. During this time, Active Apprentice delivered hundreds of Apprenticeship employment opportunities for the sector, providing sustainable employment opportunities and starting the careers of some of the managers of the sector today.
Our mission is Empowering both individuals and employers to create sustainable change by developing an agile, resilient and highly skilled workforce fit for the future.
Active Apprentice took a hiatus from the industry when the Apprenticeship reforms started in May 2017. During this time, employers become responsible for their own training budgets via the Apprenticeship Levy, meaning that it was the employer’s responsibility to assign funding to Apprenticeships.
Whilst we were quieter during these past years, we never went away, continuing to offer support to those in need of a way of gaining employment opportunities and training in sectors that traditionally didn’t have the stability of 12-month contracts of employment.
Now that the industry has settled post reform, the place of an Apprenticeship Training Agency within it has become more needed than ever. Making it a great time to come and work for Active Apprentice as we continue our legacy of offering great opportunities to work and train in the Sports and Physical Activity sector.
